Tank emptying

How often you need your tank emptying depends on the size of your tank or cesspit and how many people are living at the property. 

We do recommend that you have your tank or cesspit emptied and inspected every 6-12 months.

Issues that can occur if your tank is not emptied regularly: 

• A foul and nasty smell can arise around the area

• The tank may leak and there may be an abundance of water around the drainage area (soakaway) 

• Sinks inside your house could start to drain slowly and toilets may not flush properly 

• Solids could enter into the soakaway which can cause damage and is not hygienic
